NeurATRIS, translational research infrastructure for innovative neuroscience therapies.
An infrastructure unique in Europe
NeurATRIS, coordinated by CEA, is a national research infrastructure to accelerate the translation of discoveries in basic research into medical innovations for the treatment of neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases.
Created in 2012 following the « Investissements d’Avenir » call for projects "Biology and Health Infrastructure", its objective is to offer a continuum of translational expertises ranging from in vitro cellular models to phase II clinical trials on patients suffering from major brain diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), Huntington's disease (HD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or certain brain development disorders.
Organized as a one-stop network, NeurATRIS is designed to co-ordinate research activities and technological development serving the scientific and industrial communities. It simplifies the access and the use of high level platforms (see « Platforms of NeurATRIS ») and facilitates the participation of French players in European initiatives. It also improve the attractiveness and visibility of France in the field of translational neuroscience research.
An infrastructure based on scientific excellence in neuroscience and neurology
NeurATRIS brings together 7 hospitals and public research institutes whose expertise and skills in neuroimaging, pharmacology and biotherapies are complementary and internationally recognized:
Established in 2011 as part of the Future Investment Programme, the role of INBS has grown steadily over the years, and they have now become key strategic assets for French life sciences research. Serving research excellence, they provide cutting-edge services to researchers and industry, support and train scientific communities, and foster technological innovation. Some of them, including NeurATRIS, also benefit from recognition at the European level.
NeurATRIS received €31.3 million in funding over a 13-year period, as part of the 2012 Future Investment Programme (PIA), covering the period from 2012 to 2024.
